The official “Chester and The Goose” announcement confirms the setup — Chester begs to be knighted so he can evict the war goose occupying the public baths — but the recruitment steps themselves come from community routes and playthrough videos, not from the developer.

Step-by-step Chester recruitment

1. Accept the bathhouse goose crisis during a morning audience. Rejecting the petition can delay or skip the whole chain until you rewind.
2. Stage 1 — send Angelica. Her charisma and animal affinity befriend the goose, which turns out to be protecting its eggs; the goose becomes a local hero wearing a small hat. Purely martial knights can clear the quest but reportedly miss the unlock flags tied to Angelica’s outcome.
3. Stage 2 — Chester returns, still unable to bathe, and mentions the eggs. Listen to Arlin’s clue and send accordingly (table below).
4. After the goose leaves peacefully, Chester returns to the Tower. Choose the dialogue option “Was this bird not, in the end, just looking for a little company, like the rest of us?” and he will offer to join your Round Table.

Can you miss Chester?

• Rejecting the goose petition may delay or skip Chester entirely until a rewind.
• One recorded playthrough removed Chester via the guards during the Cycle 3 follow-up and continued without him, so it is possible to close the route within a run.
• One guide site warns not to click the “You’re Welcome” dialogue option after the quest — a single-source report that still needs verification.
• The Demon’s rewind lets you retry the chain, and New Game+ runs can attempt it again.

If Chester is not on your roster, he was not recruited through any standard flow — the goose chain is the only documented route.
